Description

These Spicy Tamarind Street Tacos are bursting with flavor and served with a zesty avocado salsa. Perfect for your next gathering or a fun weeknight dinner!


Ingredients

1 lb ground beef or chicken

2 tbsp tamarind paste

1 tbsp chili powder

1 tsp cumin

1 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

8 corn tortillas

1 ripe avocado, diced

1/2 cup diced tomatoes

1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped

1 lime, juiced

Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or chicken until browned.

3. Add tamarind paste, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.

4. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until the meat is fully cooked and coated in the sauce.

5. In a separate bowl, combine diced avocado, tomatoes, red onion, lime juice, salt, and pepper to make the avocado salsa.

6. Warm the corn tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave.

7. Assemble tacos by placing the spicy meat mixture on each tortilla and topping with avocado salsa.

8. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve immediately.


Notes

 

For extra spice, add sliced jalapeños on top of the tacos.

These tacos can also be made with shrimp or tofu for a different protein option.
