Ingredients
8 slices of bacon
4 large eggs
1 cup milk
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup diced bread (white or whole grain)
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, then crumble into pieces.
3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
4. In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer the bread, crumbled bacon, and cheese.
5. Pour the egg mixture over the top, making sure to distribute it evenly.
6. Drizzle the maple syrup over the casserole.
7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown.
8. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or red pepper flakes.
You can substitute the bacon with turkey bacon or a vegetarian alternative for a healthier option.
