This Maple Bourbon Glazed Sweet Potato Pie combines the natural sweetness of sweet potatoes with rich maple syrup and a hint of bourbon. Topped with a crunchy pecan topping, it’s the perfect festive dessert for your holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
2 large sweet potatoes (about 2 pounds)
1 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup bourbon
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pre-made pie crust
1 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
Instructions
1. 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. 2. Pierce the sweet potatoes with a fork and bake them for 45-60 minutes, or until tender.
3. 3. Once baked, let the sweet potatoes cool slightly, then peel and mash them in a large bowl.
4. 4. Add the maple syrup, bourbon, heavy cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and vanilla extract to the mashed sweet potatoes. Mix until smooth.
5. 5. Pour the sweet potato mixture into the pre-made pie crust, spreading it evenly.
6. 6. In a separate bowl, mix the chopped pecans, brown sugar, and melted butter until the pecans are coated.
7. 7. Spread the pecan mixture over the sweet potato filling.
8. 8. Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the pecan topping is golden brown.
9. 9. Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool before serving.
Notes
This pie can be made a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator. Serve warm or at room temperature. For an extra touch, serve with whipped cream on top!
