Description
A classic lasagna recipe loaded with rich meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and gooey mozzarella. Perfect for family gatherings!
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 pound Italian sausage
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cans (15 oz each) tomato sauce
2 cans (6 oz each) tomato paste
2 cans (6 oz each) tomato sauce
1 can (15 oz) ricotta cheese
1 egg
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
12 lasagna noodles, cooked
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
3. Add onion and garlic; sauté until onions are translucent.
4. Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes.
5. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt.
6. Spread a layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
7. Layer with noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella cheese, and more meat sauce. Repeat layers and top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
9. Let it sit for 15 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil.
Notes
Best served with garlic bread and a side salad. You can make this ahead of time and refrigerate it overnight before baking.
