Description
This Chili Mac and Cheese Casserole is the ultimate comfort food! It’s a delicious combination of macaroni, ground beef, chili beans, and cheesy goodness, all baked to perfection.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz) chili beans
1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
2 cups elbow macaroni
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
Salt and pepper to taste
2 cups water
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until soft.
4. Stir in the chili beans, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes.
5. In a separate pot, cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente, then drain.
6. Combine the beef mixture with the cooked macaroni in a large bowl. Stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
7. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Top with the remaining cheese.
8. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add jalapeños or bell peppers to the beef mixture.
Serve with a side salad or garlic bread for a complete meal.
