Description

These buttery cheddar pretzel corn dogs are a delicious twist on a classic favorite. Crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, these extra-cheesy treats are perfect for parties or game day!

Ingredients

– 1 cup warm water (110°F to 115°F)

– 2 teaspoons active dry yeast

– 4 cups all-purpose flour

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

– 1/4 cup granulated sugar

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

– 1/4 cup baking soda

– 8 hot dogs

– 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

– Coarse sea salt (for topping)

Instructions

1. 1. In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

2. 2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, melted butter, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.

3. 3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

4. 4. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

5. 5. In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water to a boil and add the baking soda.

6. 6. Roll out the dough and cut it into strips. Wrap each strip around a hot dog.

7. 7. Boil each wrapped hot dog in the baking soda water for 30 seconds. Remove and place on a baking sheet.

8. 8. Brush with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.

9. 9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

– For extra flavor, try adding spices to the dough or using different types of cheese.

– These can be made ahead of time and frozen. Just reheat in the oven before serving.
