These Buttery Bacon Onion Rings Rolls are a delightful blend of savory and sweet, wrapped in a crispy bacon coating and drizzled with a maple pepper glaze. Perfect for a unique appetizer or a sweet and savory snack!
Ingredients
1 large onion, sliced into rings
1 pound of bacon, cut in half
1 cup of all-purpose flour
1 cup of breadcrumbs
2 large eggs
1/2 cup of milk
1/4 cup of maple syrup
1 teaspoon of black pepper
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
Oil for frying
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Wrap each onion ring with a half slice of bacon and secure with a toothpick.
3. In a bowl, mix flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
4. In another bowl, beat eggs and milk together.
5. Dip each bacon-wrapped onion ring into the egg mixture, then coat with breadcrumbs.
6. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot for frying.
7. Fry the onion rings until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
8. Remove from oil and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
9. In a small saucepan, combine maple syrup and black pepper, simmering for 2-3 minutes.
10. Drizzle the maple pepper glaze over the onion rings before serving.
Notes
For extra crunch, you can double coat the onion rings in breadcrumbs.
Feel free to adjust the amount of maple syrup for a sweeter or less sweet glaze.
